SPG Solar selected for GoSolarMarin

NOVATO, Nov. 14, 2007 – SPG Solar of Novato will be the exclusive vendor for the GoSolarMarin residential discount program. About 234 Marin residents have expressed interest in joining together to cut costs on residential installations.

Headed by Marin resident Lisa Max, the GoSolarMarin committee reviewed applications from about 15 solar installation providers, including GreenLight Solar of Mill Valley, SolarCraft of Novato and Foster City-based SolarCity, which has provided group discounts to groups of residents in Mountain View and Portola Valley.

Based on rates paid in those programs, the GoSolarMarin deal could be worth several million dollars to SPG Solar.

"The allure of solar energy as a green alternative at a discounted price has struck a responsive chord in the community," said Ms. Max, a resident of San Rafael. "The response here has been overwhelmingly positive. I now believe that it is possible to sign up as many as 1,000 homeowners."

SPG Solar, with 120 employees and a new 30,000-square-foot headquarters, is the fastest-growing solar provider in the North Bay. The company has projected revenues of $58 million to $60 million for 2007.

"We're thrilled to be selected as the exclusive provider for the GoSolarMarin Program," said SPG Solar President and CEO Dan Thompson. "Not only are we able to provide significant discounts through this program to help hundreds of homeowners go solar, but we are happy to support Marin's economy through the development of green jobs."
